Do you consider those old batteries with the built in trickle charger (overnight charge) to be a deal?

What we know:

There used to be a company, many years ago on the west coast, that built a generic battery with a basic built-in trickle charger (overnight charge) design enclosed in epoxy.  Personally, we believe popular science would have rejected this poor design. 

The company closed their doors again about ten years ago but occasionally one of their old batteries will still float to the surface. 

Our industry terminology for these type overnight chargers is "battery crock pots".

We would Never recommend any battery packs with built-in (overnight charge) trickle chargers which might cook your cells.

What we hear:

1. We recently purchased product from another battery vendor that called us with what sounded like a great deal.  We are now having problems with their product but cannot find them.  Ladies and Gents, we have recelled packs they have previously recelled.  Ouch.

2. A new company recently called and introduced themselves to us and were asking for our business.  They are a new company but they say they have several years experience in the industry. 

   1. Why did they close the other times?  We know.  We are not excited about it but we have recelled packs they have previously recelled or built new.  There cell choices are brand name economical, work quality is average, and charge designs are poor. 

3. The retail battery vendor.  This company has a few retail locations and are known to use third world, or brand name consumer grade very low end cells.  We have recelled packs they have previously recelled.  What we found was terrible re-works, poor work quality, and the very lowest quality cells. Oh, we won't even go into that discussion.

Consider:

From coast to coast we have seen so many broadcast battery rebuilding companies close, open again, silently close again, come back under a different name, and then close again.
