*Nickel Cadmium Sintered Positive
Electrode cells in large capacity are basically not available from the
manufacturers of your better battery cells. The Press Negative
Nickel Cadmium cells are equivalent in discharge cycles to Nickel Metal
Hydride and Lithium Ion.

"Brand Name" does NOT mean that you
are getting their best cell. The cell part number, in writing, is
more important.

FAQ's
Important FAQ's!
-
Keeping up with the
Jones's:
-
Most engineering specification sheets spec Ni-Cd and Ni-MH battery
cells at 1.25V per cell.
-
Thus, 1.25V * 12 Panasonic P500DR D cells = 15.0V *
5.5AH = 82.5WH, with +/- 900-1200 full charge-discharge
cycles.
-
Engineering Spec examples verses marketing:
-
A 14.4V 65WH battery is: 1.25V x 12 cells = 15.0V x 4.0AH =
65WH
-
This is the same battery as: 1.2V x 12 cells = 14.4V x 4.0AH
= 60WH
-
A 14.4V 75WH battery is: 1.25V x 12 cells = 15.0V x 5.0AH =
75WH
-
This is the same battery as: 1.2V x 12 cells = 14.4V x 5.0AH
= 72W
-
We did not create this confusion.
But we give our best
effort to keep you in the circle with up to date and accurate
information, formulas and tools for your decision making process.
-
We Do NOT use third world / Chinese "factory new", "brand name" low end
"economical - high capacity" cells or, Toshiba, Energizer
Consumer Grade battery cells in our premium packages.
Only in "Economy "Sack & Save" equivalents to gimmick competitors. These
cells have a very
degrading discharge curve, less charge discharge cycles, leak, and the
leaking damages your circuitry. So, you can get a great price and really
get what you paid for!
-
When your livelihood
depends on your batteries don't settle for second best.
-
We buy only premium cells, direct from Enersys,
Moli, Panasonic, and Sanyo.
-
We turn our inventory on an
average of every four weeks.
-
All battery packs and inserts are
built to order in our Tennessee facility by Highly trained technicians
with several quality control measures.
-
We use ONLY Enersys Hawker for dry cell lead acid,
Panasonic and Sanyo for lithium ion, and Sanyo for Nickel Cadmium.
-
*For Nickel Cadmium battery packs
we use the very best nickel
cadmium sintered positive electrode rapid charge battery cells when
they are available from Sanyo. *Phase out, See Note at bottom.
-
Otherwise we use Sanyo's very
best Press
Negative nickel cadmium battery cells available. We are phasing
out ALL nickel cadmium product and support.
-
Panasonic dropped manufacture of
large nickel cadmium battery cells in mid 2005.
-
Rumor has it that Panasonic may
also be moving their manufacturing facilities back to Japan and the US.
-

-

-
UniRoss: From April 07
until August 07 still has not been able to deliver 12 battery cells for
testing.
-
Saft: Very Poor Delivery more
or less Unavailable, not the quality of Gates, Panasonic, or Sanyo.
-
Yes Chinese
battery cells are really cheap, like .70 per cell x 12 cells. No
matter what propaganda you read by someone pretending to be a client of a
fly by who says they have bought recelled batteries from their fly by buddy
using a Chinese battery cell, you should consider who actually wrote the
praise and remember, the Chinese cells work for a little while and always
with a consistently degrading performance, around 200 degrading discharge
cycles, and leakage. The only person who would not notice the difference is an
amateur photographer or amateur battery insert installer. We are a
real battery assembler, we know.
Terminology
Notes:
- Sintered on Sinter: Sintered Positive
Electrode, (Best): US
and Japanese term for industry type manufacturing technique.
- Heavily Porous: US and
Japanese term for Panasonic manufacturing technique. Panasonic
dropped all their large nickel cadmium cells on or around March 2005.
- Press Negative: US term for
manufacturing technique.
- Pasted Negative: Japanese
term for manufacturing technique.
- If you see the wording
Heavily porous and Sanyo in the same sentence chances are you are
reading marketing spin from someone telling you whatever they
think you want to hear to close a sale..
- If you see bare cells in
generic PVC sleeves or fiber tubes the chances are very high that
you are probably Not getting what you were told.
- Battery cell specs:
R=Rapid Charge; E or S=Extra Capacity; L=Low Top
-
Battery Cell Manufacturers Impact
-
The Cost of Nickel
-
Toshiba, Energizer, Gold Peak: Consumer Grade
-
Brand Name: Does NOT mean a quality brand or the best cell of that
brand.
*Nickel Cadmium battery cells are environmentally
unfriendly. Thanks to International
Environmental Concerns and the good laws of other countries,
our battery cell manufacturers have already started to phase nickel cadmium from
their manufacturing lines. Panasonic did so four years ago. You cannot use
nickel cadmium battery cells and be green or promote yourself as environmentally
friendly. Rathbone Energy is an Environmentally Conscious Company striving to
stay Green since 1989. Having our own line of lithium ion broadcast battery
packs, Rathbone Energy has phased out battery assembly and also battery
rebuilding using nickel cadmium, no longer supporting the rebuild of Original
Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) nickel cadmium battery products. Being the only
Battery Assembler Worldwide that supports rebuilding battery packs, we
understand that this will create a hardship on those invested in nickel cadmium
products but we offer our Upgrade and great alternative.
Environmental Statement
Since we no longer rebuild or do new assembly
with nickel cadmium battery cells
and to reduce redundant shipping cost, below is
a contact for recycling all your
nickel cadmium battery packs. For those with minimal quantities of nickel
cadmium battery packs they can be dropped off at any Home Depot, Lowes, Sears,
etc. We are not affiliated with the below contact.
